Arrive in Dijon. Your hotel is situated in the heart of the city. Check in and have a presentation of the tour as well as delivery of the bicycles. ACTIVE TOURS / Bourgogne Evasion suggests you follow the Owl’s Trail which highlights 22 key points of interest in the city. Stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 3, Tuesday: Dijon - Côte de Nuits vineyards - Beaune (25 - 31 miles / 40 - 50 kilometers)

Have a meeting with your guide after breakfast. Leaving Dijon behind, you will navigate out of the city and cycle into the countryside where the Route des Grands Crus begins. Arrive into the region of Gevrey-Chambertin, the largest appellation in Côte de Nuits, pinot noir country, and where you find some of France’s most famous wines including Vosne-Romanée, Fixin, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Flagey-Echézeaux, Vougeot, and Richebourg.

Cycle on through the wine regions of Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, and Vougeot with vineyards all along the way on either side of you offering breathtaking scenery and crisp, fresh air! You will continue through the highlands further on to Beaune. Stay overnight at a centrally situated three-star hotel.

Day 4, Wednesday: Loop ride south from Beaune - Côte de Beaune vineyards (25 - 31 miles / 40 - 50 kilometers)

Today’s ride will take you through the famous vineyards of Pommard and Volnay, the kingdom of Burgundy red wines. The ride is nice and flat all day long and then curves back in towards the famous vineyards of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, charming villages which make the best white Chardonnay wines in the world. Go back to Beaune in the afternoon. Stay overnight at the same hotel. A gourmet dinner is included tonight.

Day 5, Thursday: Beaune to Chalon-sur-Saône - Côte Chalonnaise vineyards (25 - 31 miles / 40 - 50 kilometers)

Have a meeting with your guide after breakfast and depart for another bike ride. You will definitely enter another vineyard region today by visiting the spectacular vineyards of Côte Chalonnaise and leisurely stroll on the towpath of the Canal du Centre from Santenay to Chalon-sur-Saône. Dinner is included tonight. Stay overnight at a three-star hotel.

Day 6, Friday: Departure after breakfast

Brand new high-quality hybrid bikes (24 gears) are available. The bicycle you are going to use is a hybrid bicycle, which is a cross type of bicycle that combines certain features of mountain bikes and those of road / racing bikes. Your bike is equipped with multi-speed gearing, in a ratio that is conducive for the type of riding you will be doing.

The hybrid bikes come with upright steering and no drop handlebars. These bicycles are very good for their purpose and are maintained by professional mechanics. If you treat your bicycle well, it will operate perfectly for you. If you treat your bicycle poorly, you may not have an equally enjoyable experience.

This trip is not a marathon event and is not a traditional group tour, but a small group or individual tour with people who share your interest in doing something special with their holiday! The tour is not for advanced bikers or walkers and you don’t need to be mega fit. However, it is imperative on a cycling tour that one can manage a bicycle on main roads with little traffic and has the ability to ride a bicycle confidently and responsibly.
