The long weekend is where you can ride all the way from Florence to Siena through the hills of Chianti Classico and visiting medieval hamlets, castles, and Romanesque churches. During the bike tour, you will discover the history of Tuscany and the strong fight between Florence and Siena, Guelfi, and Ghibellini. The itinerary will take you up and down on the typical Tuscan hill surrounded by olive trees and vineyards and you will visit beautiful hilltop towns such as San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, and Siena. At the end of each stage, you can relax and taste some Chianti or Vernaccia di San Gimignano wines.
You will be accommodated at three-star hotels in Florence on day one and in San Gimignano on day two. Moreover, you will spend the rests of the nights at four-star hotels in Radda in Chianti on day three and in Siena on day four and five.
Today will be an Individual arrival and accommodation at a three-star hotel located very close tose the city center of Florence.
This stage will start with a very easy uphill to Piazzale Michelangelo, one of the most scenic panoramic spots over the city center of Florence. Then, you will go to Montespertoli, cute hilltop town surrounded by a beautiful view on the Chianti vineyards. Afterward, you will head to Certaldo, a beautiful medieval town where the famous Tuscan writer Boccaccio, author of the Decameron, was born. You will go uphill along the Via Francigena to San Gimignano, the towers of the town can be seen for miles around and the historic town centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Light lunch will be with Vernaccia wine-tasting in a winery with a beautiful view on San Gimignano. Dinner will be on your own and accommodation at a three-star hotel of the city center.
You will go to Abbadia Isola, a beautiful abbey along the Via Francigena. Then, you will head to Monteriggioni with its walls and the ring of towers that dominate the hill. Later, climbing up surrounded by the Chianti vineyards, you will take a break for a wine tasting. On the way to Castellina in Chianti, you’ll stop in a Chianti winery for a light lunch with wine-tasting. Castellina in Chianti is the most medieval of the Chianti towns. Dinner and accommodation will be at a four-star hotel of Radda in Chianti.
You will go to Radda in Chianti with its small street and a wonderful view on the vineyards. Afterward, you will go to Gaiole,a town where L’Eroica was born in 1997. Then, you will head to The Castle of Brolio, a symbol of Chianti and good wines to taste. Later, you will go to Villa a Sesta and San Gusmè, cute town in Chianti. You will enjoy wine tasting and lunch in Castelnuovo Berardenga. The final arrival will be in Piazza del Campo, last unforgettable highlights of the bike tour. Dinner will be at a typical restaurant of the city center and accommodation will be at a four-star hotel in Siena.
You will check-out and have an individual departure; optional transfer is on request. Otherwise, you can decide to add more days to your stay and visit this beautiful city.
