For the fifth and the last night, your overnight stay will be at Borgo di Pietrafitta. All of them are in Tuscany, Italy.
Along the Via Cassia, one of the most important consular roads that connects Rome to Siena, on its most spectacular stretch between Montalcino and Pienza, you find the Val d’Orcia, where water is its leitmotif, from the hot springs healing water of Bagno Vignoni and Bagni San Filippo to that which has carved the ravines and, finally, the water that would move the millstones of the Mill Park of San Quirico d’Orcia. Nestled within this unique panorama of art, history, and nature is the Wellness Center Casanova Hotel. What comes to your attention when you arrive is a typical Tuscan structure that blends in perfectly with the nature that surrounds it, where absolute peacefulness is perceived and that offers an all-round panorama of the valley and the medieval village of San Quirico d’Orcia at just a short distance from the hotel.
Deep in the peaceful countryside, surrounded by rolling Chianti hills, and a few kilometers from Siena, arises Villa Curina Resort. This little sixteenth-century village is full of history and fascination where a refined holiday full of charm awaits you. Elegant rooms, a staff always at your disposal, a restaurant with local, and avant-garde cuisine but always respectful of Tuscan tradition and a beautiful Italian garden - little jewel from the 1700s - make this an ideal place for an unforgettable stay. Breathtaking sunsets with Siena as the backdrop will frame your holiday and turn it into a dream which, once back home, you will want to share with the ones you love most.
Imagine the unique feeling of staying in a small perfectly renovated medieval village in Tuscany, in which to enjoy the peace and quiet where every interior is designed right down to the smallest detail to ensure you have a memorable stay. This is Borgo di Pietrafitta Relais, where the green hills are full of vineyards and olive groves in a one-of-a-kind and suggestive setting. It will give you an experience which involves all five senses in the heart of the Tuscan countryside.
You will meet the staff at Chiusi train station and head to the Hotel Casanova, located at San Quirico d’Orcia in the heart of Val d’Orcia, by private transportation. Otherwise, you can join the hotel on your own. During your stay, you can take a relaxing break from the cycling journey and enjoy the spa light package, a hydrotherapy circuit in salted water with natural micro-components, from 09:00 to 20:00. You will get a briefing and delicious dinner in the typical restaurant in San Quirico d’Orcia.
You will bike through the landscapes of the Val d'Orcia region, one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany and UNESCO world heritage site. Afterward, you will visit Pienza, the ideal city of the Renaissance time which is also famous for its Pecorino cheese. You will make a quick stop at Montepulciano, with its winding streets and squares. Monticchiello is a small medieval and charming town. You will have light lunch with Pecorino cheese tasting in a typical farm and dairy. Take a relax break from the cycling journey and enjoy the spa before dinner.
You will be climbing up to Montalcino, the town of Brunello wine, then visiting Montalcino, a medieval town surrounded by vineyards and beautiful view on the valley, followed by visiting the Abbey of Sant’antimo, one of the most beautiful Romanic churches in Italy. You will climb again towards Castiglione d’Orcia and Rocca d’Orcia. Those beautiful landscapes will compensate the challenging ascent.
You will have lunch in Bagno Vignoni, a cute medieval town where the main square of the village is a big thermal pool which contains the original source of thermal water. Take a relaxing break before a cooking class where you can discover the secret of Tuscan dishes. During the lesson, you will make a complete menu and, in the end, dinner is served with what has been prepared during the lesson.
You will take an unforgettable ride surrounded by the views of the Crete Senesi to the edge of the Chianti. The Crete Senesi region is where badlands and biancane characterize the landscape in this part of Tuscany. You will take a short break at Asciano with its churches and museums. Your lunch with wine tour and tasting in a Chianti winery will be located at Castelnuovo Berardenga while your dinner and overnight accommodation will be at Villa Curina Resort.
You will have a chance to discover Castelnuovo Berardenga and its landscape museum, Villa a Sesta, and San Gusmè, a cute town in Chianti. The journey will continue to The Castle of Brolio, the symbol of Chianti and good wines to taste. Afterward, you will continue to Gaiole, the town where L’Eroica was born in 1997, followed by the trip to Radda in Chianti with its small street and a wonderful view of the vineyards. Your dinner and accommodation will be at Borgo di Pietrafitta.
