Take a step back in time and let the staff at the Brownstone Colonial Inn pamper you today. It is located just minutes from the Adamstown antiques and the Amish cultural attractions of Lancaster County, yet it is far enough away in the country to give you the respite you are looking for. Built by early German Mennonite settlers, this 18th-century sandstone Lancaster County bed-and-breakfast is situated on seven acres amid Lancaster County farmland and countryside.

You can enjoy a leisurely walk by the fishpond and gardens or nearby nature trails and a round of golf at the local courses (Galen Hall Country Club, Foxchase, Manor Golf Club, and Chapel Hill Golf Course). What's more, you can also enjoy a day of shopping at the numerous outlet centers and Adamstown antique malls, which are just minutes away.

There are also cultural and historical sites and attractions, including the Ephrata Cloister, Amish Experience, Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum, Sight & Sound Theatres, Lititz, and Hershey.

Whatever brings you to the area, you can be certain that your stay with them will be restful. Each room boasts random-width plank floors, lofty windowsills, locally handcrafted period-authentic furniture, private bathrooms, and comfortable sleeping and sitting areas. All rooms, including the two-room suite, are priced for double occupancy. There are Queen Anne Room, Grandma’s Room, Grandpa’s Room, and Shaker Suite. Moreover, a free wireless high-speed internet is now available.

You may choose a route that takes you past a modern 700-head dairy farm where you can walk in and look through an observatory area down onto the ultra-modern milking parlor, which electronically monitors the milk production and can even detect if there’s a virus or bacteria coming through from which cow!

In contrast, this route will also take you to an Amish working farm, where you can watch them milk the cows if you like. You can also enjoy lunch or dinner in their home (with advance reservations through the Brownstone Colonial Inn, of course). Another route will take you through a covered bridge and past the Green Dragon Market and Auction, where you’ll be tempted to purchase sundry treasures and souvenirs, but you may have to come back later if you cannot haul it all on your bike!

Another stop along the way is Martin’s Pretzel Bakery, which is owned and operated by conservative Mennonites, who enjoy singing hymns together while they work at their pretzel-baking tasks. For history enthusiasts, you can take the route that includes the Ephrata Cloister museum, which houses collections of handiworks and buildings of beautiful architecture from a celibate religious group migrating from Germany under the leadership of Conrad Beissel in 1720.
