Included excursions

Visit to local chateaux or castle is included in the package.

Dordogne Cycling is based in the north west of the Dordogne bordering the Charente which takes you into one of Frances Plus Beux Village, Aubeterre. This ancient village set up high above the river with its 11th century church, which is the oldest in France, is a perfect place to dine or just wonder around the pretty shops.

In the opposite direction we have Brantome. A fortified town known as the Venice of the Perigord as it is surrounded by the Dronne River. It is also very pretty with many restaurants, shops and cafe's and the old monastery and church. It is the perfect place to cycle to and stop by the river for a picnic before setting off again.

The Dordogne region of south-west France is one of the most beautiful and popular destinations in the country. Visit this beautiful region of France and discover the chateaux, beautiful medieval towns and villages, unspoiled countryside and prehistoric caves - just some of the many reasons why the region attracts visitors.

There are many "famous sights" that people associate with the Dordogne, including Lascaux caves, Marqueyssac gardens, medieval Sarlat, castles such as Chateau Castelnaud and the prehistoric caves in the Vezere Valley. Yet it is the places that you visit outside these "hot-spots" that will stay longest in your memory - the scenery, the peace, the coffee in a small cafe, the picnic next to a stream.

The Dordogne is beautiful in the same way as the Cotswolds or Tuscany are beautiful - the way it simply makes you want to stay forever enjoying the quiet, the countryside, the scenery... Some of the other best known highlights include the gouffre de Padirac caves and canoeing the Dordogne, with the most popular towns and villages including Bergerac, Brantome, Excideuil, La Roque-Gageac, Le Bugue, Riberac and Rocamadour.

This region of the Dordogne is the perfect location for cycling with its varied terrain and rolling hills. With almost traffic-free roads it makes for an enjoyable experience. With a wide variety of climbs and descents, combined with more level routes running along the Dronne River, it is ideal for either experienced cyclist or beginners.
