Bringing your own bike

You may also bring your own bike with you and ship it in advance via UPS (available only in Las Vegas and Moab). Escape Adventures will receive your bike, assemble it, tune it to make sure everything works properly, and disassemble it. You are responsible for the cost of shipping to and from the meeting location. You will be charged for return shipping after the tour. If you are shipping your bike, please write your name, trip, and trip date on the outside of the box and attach this information to your frame. They must receive all shipped bikes no less than four days before your tour.

Bringing your bike on the plane can be quite costly and will require you to assemble your bike in your hotel room before the tour. Most hotels will let you store your bike container for the duration of the tour. Due to space constraints, Escape Adventures cannot take your bike box on the tour van.

Preparing for your mountain tour

For optimal physical preparation, Escape Adventures recommends that you ride at least several hours per week during the month preceding the tour. During the tour, you will be on your bike every day and they can assure you that an unprepared bottom is a sore one! If you can’t ride your bike or don’t own one, take a spin class at your local gym a few times a week. Your level of fitness does affect how much you enjoy your tour. Check your specific itinerary for an idea of your average daily mileage and level of strenuousness - then train appropriately.

Support vehicle

For more than a decade, Escape Adventures has been designing their custom fleet of 4x4 trucks, vans, and trailers with rack systems made exclusively for backcountry adventure touring. The support vehicle and driver becomes your own personal support system, bringing you food and drink, carrying your gear safely through the mountains, and lending a bench for a soft ride at your convenience. Their exclusive fleet is custom-built to go further in the backcountry, so you can see places you never knew existed.

Included excursions

You'll have the chance to spend your morning rafting in Snake River.

Location

This bike tour takes place in the Teton areas, Wyoming, USA. It starts in Shadow Mountain and ends in Munger Mountain Trail. A sharp rise and jagged horizon set the Grand Teton apart from the rest of the Rocky Mountains. Just forty miles long and ten miles wide, this relatively small section of the Rockies is also the youngest.

Unlike other ranges in the Rockies, the Tetons have not been around long enough to have acquired the foothills and softer lines caused by centuries of erosion. The Grand Teton National Park and the Teton National Forest protect this unique geographical feature, which rises to 13,770 feet, and the wildlife, ecology, and recreation opportunities it harbors - such as mountain biking!

Food

During this tour, the guides lovingly prepare meals for the trip with an emphasis on fresh, local and organic foods, ensuring you have the fuel you need to ride and a delicious meal at the same time - including dessert! Expect to eat only freshly-prepared foods at each meal. You will eat three meals a day and always have fresh vegetables and fruit available. They will serve all meals starting with lunch on the first day through lunch on the last day, along with snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Eating breakfast before meeting the group on day one is advised as lunch will be the first meal provided.

Breakfast favorites include blueberry pancakes, huevos rancheros, and crepes. Lunches include delicacies such as Greek salad, veggie-feta wraps, and pasta. Appetizers, like bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms, and crudité compliment elaborate salads and pastries. Dinner entreés, such as polenta lasagna, steak, salmon, and deep dish pizza are delicious when baked in a Dutch oven or grilled over an open fire. Desserts range from pineapple upside down cake to chocolate fondue. If you have special diet requirements, Escape Adventures can accommodate with prior notice. Vegans and vegetarians are no problem.
