This tour is for families with small children, taking into account the needs of both big and small cyclists. It is based on short distances, mostly flat paths, and secondary roads, with greater assistance and all the services needed to make a holiday with children easier.
During this tour, you will spend seven nights in three-star and four-star hotels depending on the place you will visit.
You will arrive individually at Tresnuraghes and meet with the representatives and have a briefing about the bike tour.
Discover the small villages of Sardinia by bike, including Flussio, which is famous for its basket making, and Tinnura, with the sculptures and murals that adorn the streets of this small town of Sardinia.
Leaving Tresnuraghes via easy asphalted and dirt roads, you will arrive at Santa Caterina di Pittinuri for what will probably be the longest and most demanding stop of this tour. Once on the coast, do not miss S'archittu, a 15-meter-high natural limestone arch that has become a real attraction for this stretch of the western coast of Sardinia.
From Santa Caterina to Putzu Idu in the northernmost part of the Sinis Peninsula, there is a collage of environments and colors that are sure to impress. Once you have arrived at your hotel, there will still be time for a long break on this stretch of the coast, with fine sandy beaches with hints of gray.
Cycle from Putzu Idu to the surroundings of San Salvatore in the southernmost part of the Sinis Peninsula for a not too demanding stage that will allow you to spend time at the beach. Once you have arrived near the hotel, do not miss to visit San Salvatore, which once a year, like other religious villages in Sardinia, comes back to life for the feast of the homonymous saint.
You are back again at the sea of the captivating Sinis Peninsula, with the white quartz beaches of Mari Ermi and Is Aruttas. This area is also home to the ruins of Tharros, a city founded by the Phoenicians around 800 BC, which led to the foundation of the city of Oristano, the capital of the ancient judicial kingdom of Arborea.
The tour ends after breakfast, but if you have enough time, do not miss the Local Museum o Cabras where you can admire the monumental stone statues of Monte Prama. See archer and warrior statues that are rewriting the history of Sardinia in this part of the Mediterranean.
Each adult bike is provided with one side rear bag (20 liters) and one small bag with spare tube, repair kit, air pump, lock, and helmet.
One GPS will be provided for each couple or room where an updated tracklist is already charged (one track for each day).
This cycling tour will take place in Sardinia, Italy, starting in Tresnuraghes and ending in Cabras (San Salvatore). Sardinia is the second largest Italian island in the Mediterranean. It has almost 2,000 kilometers of coastline, sandy beaches, forests, and inland mountainous areas that are perfect for mountain biking and hiking.
Its landscape, which is different in the different sub-regions of Sardinia, is characterized by thousands of nuraghi, mysterious buildings of the Bronze Age stone with the characteristic shape of a truncated conical tower similar to a medieval tower (outside) and a beehive (inside). It is one of the main symbols of Sardinia and its distinctive culture, the Nuragic civilization. Over 7,000 nuraghi have been found, although archaeologists believe that there were originally more than 10,000.
During this bike ride, you will discover the Planargia plateau and its small villages rich in tradition and history, Santa Caterina, Putzu Idu, and the west coast of the Sinis peninsula with its pink flamingos and its enchanting beaches and ponds. You will also visit Cabras and learn about its food and wine traditions.
The price includes four dinners.
