Light Bike Tour in France

Experience a self-guided bike tour along the gorges and causses in the unspoiled Southern France countryside! You will be amazed at an extraordinary diversity of landscapes that you will get to know when cycling through this far south part of the Massif Central. You will be accommodated in rooms with en-suite shower and bathroom in small typical country hotels or guesthouses with character and charm from two and three-star family run hotels to three and four-star luxury hotels.

You will be staying at Château de Creissels, Millau, on the first night. On the second night, you will be staying in a two-star hotel in Le Rozier. On the third night, the overnight will be in a three-star hotel in Meyrueis. Lastly, on the fourth night, you will stay in a three-star hotel in Creissels.


The daily distances will not exceed 60 kilometers and cycling time will be no more than four to five hours a day. This tour is also well suited for families with children, with enough opportunities to stop for a swim in a river or lake or have a canoe trip.


Day 1: Creissels

You will cycle along the river to the viaduct of Millau and Creissels at two kilometers from Millau.

  • Distance: 2 kilometers / 1.24 miles

Day 2: Le Rozier

You will cycle along Tarn River to the entrance of the canyon of the Gorges du Tarn.

  • Distance: 22 kilometers / 14 miles

Day 3: Meyrueis

You will cycle into the Gorges de la Jonte (Les Douzes, restaurant, Museum of the Vultures).

  • Distance: 22 kilometers / 14 miles

Day 4: Creissels

You will cycle down by the Gorges de la Jonte via Le Rozier to Millau and Creissels.

  • Distance: 51 kilometers / 32 miles

Day 5: Departure

You will leave after breakfast.


This tour starts and ends in Millau. East of Millau, the Tarn River, and its tributaries carved out four canyons like gorges: Gorges de la Dourbie, Gorges de la Jonte, and the most famous of all the Gorges du Tarn. These Gorges are at the heart of the most spectacular walking area of the Grands Causses Natural Parc. Steep crags of 400 meters and the typical scenery of limestone plateaux are dissected by rivers.


You will be provided with four breakfasts and four dinners. Lunches are not included. The price of a takeaway lunch varies from nine to fourteen EUR. You can order it from the hotelkeeper the evening before departure. No fast food here but the French cuisine and honest food are available in small family-run hotels where you will get a warm welcome.

  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
