Why do Magic Places Cycling Adventures so love Tuscany? Well, there’s the food. Not much needs to be said about the world’s finest cuisine, and Lucca, off the tourist tracks around Pisa and Florence, has quietly built a reputation for Italy’s finest gastronomy. Add the perfect bottle of Barolo and you’ll forget that you came here to ride a bike. Seriously.

And the rides! Isolated from southern Tuscany by the Apuane Mountains, Lucca is cycling paradise. While much of Tuscany is characterized by rolling hills, wheat fields, and cypress pines, Lucca is marked by winding climbs to high peaks for the climbers, and quiet, rolling valleys for the recreational cyclist. It is rarely frequented by tourists, but cyclists abound. It is not uncommon to see many pro riders sharing the otherwise quiet roads with you, unbothered by the traffic of visitors driving from one destination to the next.

And let’s not forget L’Eroica - hands down the world’s most revered Gran Fondo, the ultimate celebration of Italian cycling culture, and an absolute must-do for anyone who loves food, wine, and bikes!

Magic Places Cycling Adventures will pick you up from the airport in Florence, shuttle you to Lucca, and help you settle into your chic apartment located in the heart of this ancient walled city. You'll base yourselves here for the next six nights, exploring the phenomenal riding that has made Lucca a training destination for some of the world’s top pro teams. When the ride’s over, your ideal location in Lucca puts an array of incredible cafes, restaurants, shops, and piazzas at your doorstep.

After a week of soaking in the magic of Lucca and its surroundings, Magic Places Cycling Adventures will shuttle you to picturesque Radda in Chianti and a beautiful hotel atop a vineyard-clad hillside. This stunning location will be your base for the next three nights as you immerse yourselves in the awesome vibe of l’Eroica.

You'll visit ride HQ in Giaole in Chianti, pick up your registrations, wander the expo to see the lore of Italian cycling history, and dial in your vintage bikes in preparation for this bucket-list adventure.

A shake-out ride the next day will give you a taste of what’s in store, and then your final day will be the ride. Whether the Piccolo 46 kilometer-ride, the Lungo 209 46 kilometer-ride classic, or any distance in between, you’ll be treated to a ride unlike anywhere else on earth. Entire towns lay out the red carpet with food, music, and entertainment as cyclists and paisano unite in this unique celebration of Italian culture. Be sure to finish with an appetite - the finishing feast is the stuff of legends!
