The hotel selection is very accurate. Montefusco Cycling Rentals & Tours mixes some of the best urban hotels (in Barcelona, you will enjoy a fantastic four-star hotel with the best location) with other hotels at the seaside and even some rural cozy hotels. You will enjoy all of them.

Montefusco Cycling Rentals & Tours will take you to the best roads around. They know every small road you will enjoy and keep away from busy and dangerous roads. You can adapt every stage to your needs. You can make them longer or shorter (you might change some destination towns). The tour itself can be shortened if needed.

Six stages are the ideal number of stages to get to know the coastal roads, some climbing getting to the Pyrenees, and some of the best roads around Girona, but you can adapt the route to four, five, and six stages if you need. This tour is recommended to do in March to November and better avoid in July and August. The trip can be tailor made throughout the year to suit your requirements

Day 1: Barcelona-Calella

It is a stage to get closer the Costa Brava. You will cycle on the flat road beside the sea to get out of the city and then, instead of leading straight to Calella, get a small nice hilly road in Mataró towards Arenys de Munt and Sant Pol de Mar. After that, you will be back to the main road NII leading to Calella.

  • Distance: 83 kilometers

Day 2: Calella - Caldes de Malavella

One of the nicest roads you can cycle in whole Catalonia is the one from Tossa de Mar to Sant Feliu de Guixols. It is time to enjoy the landscape, views, and weather while cycling. Once in Sant Feliu de Guixols, you will continue to Santa Cristina d’Aro and, afterward, to Romanyà. Finally, a crossroad leading to Llagostera will put you in the right direction to Caldes de Malavella.

  • Distance: 80 kilometers

Day 3: Caldes de Malavella - L’Escala

Few miles after the start begins the climb of the day, a beautiful, solitaire, and not very steep climb named Santa Pellaia. After the descent towards La Bisbal, you will cycle through not-very-crowded roads and then, a stop in Peratallada is worth. In this old and touristic town, cars are not allowed, and lots of restaurants and shops welcome the tourists. After Peratallada, you will continue through Torroella de Montgrí till L’Escala.

  • Distance: 77 kilometers

Day 4: L’Escala - Figueres

There are several options for this stage. There is a possibility that you would be going from Roses to Alt de Perafita and stopping in Cadaqués, where the genius Salvador Dalí lived. Steep climb to the Monestry of San Pere de Rodes is also possible. You will enjoy nice aerial views from there to Port de la Seva and Costa Brava. This area may be windy, with the so named, Tramuntana wind, very strong if it blows. Figueres is a must stop, with the museum dedicated to Salvador Dalí.

  • Distance: 86 kilometers

Day 5: Figueres - Olot

Going out from Figueres through N260 is a quick way out. You will bike along the wide road leading to Besalú that you will leave direction Esponellà and Banyoles. It is worth to visit Banyoles, the village beside the famous lake where a lot of triathlon competitions take place. It is a good place to stop and enjoy lunch.

Afterward, there are several climbs, not very steep, to finally get some height reaching Olot at 440 meters. For the strong riders, you can include the beautiful and very steep climb to Mare de Deu del Mont. The breathtaking view from the top to the Canigou peak in the Pyrenees is really worth.

  • Distance: 73 kilometers

Day 6: Olot - Girona

This is one of the best spots for the last day. The climb to Santuari del Far is one of the highlights of the whole trip. You will be climbing to Coll de Condreu and then taking the crossroad to the Santuari. Once you have enjoyed the views, then the rest of the stage is mainly downhill. This stage can be shortened to 55 kilometers avoiding the climb if some of you had enough of climbing. When you get to Girona, you realize why this town is becoming so popular for cyclists.

  • Distance 84 kilometers

Day 7: Return

You will return to your own home today.
