Program

Your journey through the region will begin with a couple of days of leisurely bicycle touring. You will pedal past mangrove swamps and sandy beaches. You enjoy views from atop the hillsides flanking the coast and easy rides along seashore roads.

Numerous islands lying close off-shore provide untold photo opportunities. The first leg will wind down with a day of sea kayaking through the picturesque islands and lagoons of Phang Nga Bay. Some of those feature sea caves which you will paddle into the heart of the island.

The towering karst limestone also cover the next leg of the cycling. They are almost too surreal to be real. You will bike through the breathtaking landscapes for a couple of more days, relaxing in delightful lodges tucked under their soaring cliff faces.

The last ride will finish at Krabi's renowned Ao Nang Beach with its beautiful white sands backed up by more of the towering karst limestone outcroppings. You will spend another day of sea kayaking through Ao Thalane with its thick mangroves and deep canyons.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Surat Thani, free time, and enjoying a Thai seafood dinner with fish fresh from the ocean

The team will meet you at Surat Thani International Airport (URT) in the afternoon, then transfer you to the nearby lodge. After checking into the hotel, they will set up everyone's bike before the tour orientation and your first taste of the awesome Thai cuisine that will prepared in that part of the country. Dinner will be provided.

Day 2: Cycle to Ratchapracha Reservoir, and spend two nights in a deluxe floating hotel on the lake (31 miles / 50 kilometers)

After breakfast, you will be off on your bikes, pedaling through the flat coastal agricultural areas surrounding Surat Thani. Off in the distance, you will see the rugged outlines of the karst mountains slowly growing taller and more distinct as you approach.

As you reach the seemingly impenetrable mountain range, you will discover it is actually numerous tall narrow peaks with flat spaces in between, allowing easy passage through. The goal is the Ratchapracha Reservoir where you travel by boat to the floating resort. You will encounter small hills along the way. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

Day 3: Visit the temple cave of Wat Singh

On day three, you will take a short boat ride to hike to the crystal caves, then in the afternoon, you will take canoes out to explore the shores and towering cliff faces of the area. The colorful cliff faces rising up out of the waters provide awesome photo opportunities and the clear floor of the hotel's lobby opens up an underwater world full of fish. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

Day 4: Relish riding through the towering karst cliffs en-route to Khao Sok National Park and visit to the Fish Temple (25 miles / 41 kilometers)

You will travel by boat back to the dam, then head out on your bikes towards the rest of Khao Sok National Park. The landscapes along the ride are magnificent head-turners, every last one of them. You will stop by the Fish Cave to feed its colorful schools of fish and wind down the day at a beautiful resort sitting under the color karst cliffs. Enjoy some free time at the lodge before heading out to dinner. The terrain for the day will be comprised of small hills. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

Day 5: Pedal to the coast, explore the historic town of Takua Pa, and spend the night overlooking Khao Lak Beach (49 miles / 73 kilometers)

You will go pedaling to the coast on day five. You will first be riding to Takua Pa town and then on to the stop for the night in Hat Khao Lak. The up-and-coming beach area sits just to the north of the national park with the same name.

The picturesque beaches of Hat Khao Lak, while seeing an increase in development, still present a quiet getaway. The lodge for the night is perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the bay and town. You will encounter a moderate climb then small hills. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

Day 6: Travel by boat to Phang Nga Bay and use sea kayaks to explore the unique islands and their sea caves

In the morning, you will leave the bikes behind and enjoy a sea kayaking trip through the breathtaking islands of Phang Nga Bay. Your group will enjoy a self-paddled journey around the island for four hours, passing under overhangs with stalactites reaching down towards the sea.

You will paddle into the hollow center of the island through sea caves at low tide, perhaps spotting hornbills and monkeys, and enjoy a delightful, freshly cooked Thai lunch on board the support ship. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

Day 7: Back on the bikes through coconut, oil palm, and rubber tree plantations, and relaxation at the hotel surrounded by karst cliffs (40 miles / 64 kilometers)

You will leave the coast behind for most of the day's ride as you head inland and wind the ways through the heart of the isthmus. The area is filled with small villages, farms, and rubber plantations where they still harvest the sap and make rubber the traditional way. The lodging for the night will be outside Phang Nga town, surrounded by the towering limestone cliffs that proliferate throughout the region. You will encounter small hills along the way. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

Day 8: Flat cycling through narrow valleys lined by limestone cliffs of many hues and finish at Ao Nang Beach (60 miles / 96 kilometers)

Your day of pedaling will take you on a meandering route through the fantastic karst landscapes. The route is inland and not along the coast on day eight, but the views will be awesome and the cycling pretty flat.

You will leave the main road before you reach Krabi town itself and head back to the coast, to the lodge at Ao Nang Beach, one of the prettiest in the region with towering cliffs dropping straight into deep blue waters. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

Day 9: Sea kayaking through mangrove forests, inhabited by monkeys, and celebrate a memorable multi-sport tour with a delicious seafood dinner

Once again, the tour will take you to the ocean, exploring the Ao Thalane region near Krabi by sea kayak for three hours. The bay has dramatic canyons and thick mangrove forests that you paddle through, as a stark contrast to the open seas and scattered islands of Phang Nga Bay.

Perhaps you will spot monkeys or monitor lizards lounging in the forests. You have the afternoon free to relax before enjoying an awesome dinner of fresh seafood. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

Day 10: Time to head out for your next adventure, sawasdee khap

After breakfast, the team will be shuttling folks to Krabi Airport (KBV) for your flights home and onward to more adventures. Breakfast will be provided.
