Cycling Holiday in Portugal

This self-guided holiday will take you to know Sistelo, Soajo, and Ermelo, historical villages of Portugal. Cycling Portugal on this holiday allows you to see a unique ancestral heritage with a mild climate and mild temperatures. The bike paths pass through beautiful landscapes scattered throughout the national park that cross the rivers and picturesque places at this quiet area of Portugal. During the holiday, you will stay at Quinta Lamosa. They offer country houses for accommodation: Tree House, Stone House, Espigueiro House 1, and Espigueiro House 2. There is a saltwater pool and catering service available.



Day 1: Arrival at the airport in Oporto

Your guide will guide you to your Quinta Lamosa accommodation near the heart of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. If the time allows, you can take a little cycling around.

Day 2: Sistelo (25 miles / 40 kilometers)

Cycle on mixed eco trails along the Vez River and asphalt to Sistelo village, one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. You can enjoy the local gastronomy at the river border.

Day 3: Ponte de Lima (25 miles / 40 kilometers)

You will cross three of the oldest villages of Portugal, dating back to 1517. Walk on flat terrain, passing through agricultural land for wine and grain production along the Vez River and Lima River. The arrival at Ponte de Lima provides mixed emotions. Such is the connection of this to the river and the local people.

Day 4: Soajo and Ermelo (12 - 19 miles / 20 - 30 kilometers)

With a distance 20 or 30 kilometers on asphalt, the choice is according to the host. You will start the day in the historic village of Soajo, passing through the village of Ermelo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where it is possible to feel the hardness in which the local populations lived in this places. With a unique view to 350 meters altitude on the Lima River. You will arrive at the castle which was the first residence of the first king of Portugal, Afonso I Henriques of Portugal.

Day 5: Arcos de Valdevez (25 miles / 40 kilometers)

Approaching the end of the holidays, you will end your cycling with breathtaking landscapes of the national park. You will have a starting point at the Sanctuary Peneda. You will pass by the old glacier, pasture fields, and cleared rivers to go to the village of Arcos de Valdevez. You finish the cycling tour along the Vez River with Porto glass.

Day 6: Departure

After one last delicious breakfast, you’ll be transferred from the Quinta Lamosa countryside to Oporto airport in order to meet your allotted flight time.


There are two options of bikes available, TREK bikes and hybrid bikes or city break bikes.


This holiday will take place in Norte Region, Portugal. The route covers places such as Peneda-Gerês National Park, Sistelo, Ponte de Lima, Soajo, Ermelo, and Arcos de Valdevez.
