Location

You will tour along Saarburg, Perl, Nittel, and Saarburg in Germany as well as Luxembourg City and Echternach in Luxembourg. In the sunny south-west of Germany, two rivers meet; the Saar and the Moselle. They mark a unique holiday picture. Along the rivers, vineyards rise up steeply. Between the rivers are woody mountainsides and expansive meadow valleys in alternating harmony. The variety in the beautiful landscape makes the Saar - Upper Moselle region a paradise for cyclists, mountain bikers, and hiking enthusiasts. Here at the border triangle, Europe comes alive. For those with an interest in culture, there are lots to discover.

Saarburg

Nestled among vineyards and forests is the romantic city of Saarburg with many noteworthy monuments to its thousand-year history. The notable sights of the officially-recognized health resort attract guests from far and wide. The main attraction is the waterfall, a unique natural display in the middle of the city which falls 20 meters over rock cascades and drives the millwheels in the valley basin. Today it houses a mill museum.

In addition to the numerous sights, Saarburg has an extensive range of leisure options. For example, you can take a boat trip on the Saar, tour the city on the Saartal train, swim in outdoor or indoor swimming pools, take a trip on the summer toboggan run, take to lofty heights with the chairlift, or visit the birds of prey park.

Nittel

The largest wine village at the Obermosel is located in a scenic wide bow of the river and reaches from the quayside up to the heights of the Moselle. High rocks of Dolomite and Lime give an impressive panorama. You can find lots of sea lilies, sea snails, and cancers, originating from the time of the Triassic ocean in the rocks.

High above the village, in the vineyards, the pilgrimage chapel of Saint Rochus offers a fantastic view into the valley of the Moselle. Celtic, Franconian, and Roman findings prove that the area around Nittel was urbanized very early. Nittel today presents itself as a modern wine and vacation village.
