Serre Des Ormes is located in the spectacular Gorges de la Méouge, in the Hautes-Alpes region of France and within cycling distance of Mont Ventoux. They are less than two hours drive from Marseille Provence Airport (MRS). During the cycling holiday, you will ride to several places such as Sault, Buëch valley, Gorges de la Méouge, Col Saint-Jean, Orpierre, Jabron valley, Sisteron, and Mont Ventoux.
“Méoujo” means the honey-colored river in provençal language and the river flows 40 kilometers from west to east along the valley, crossing a valley of exceptional landscapes, alpine grasslands, wild ridges of Chabre, and ending in the deep Gorges de la Méouge. The gorges are located 20 minutes on the bike or a short drive from Serre Des Ormes and in the summer, they are popular with both bathers and walkers.
The picturesque citadel town of Sisteron is known as the “pearl of Provence” and is situated on banks of the Durance river which forges its way through the natural gaps in the hills. It is located on the scenic route Napoleon and is the gateway between Provence to the south and the Dauphine to the north. It is well worth exploring it’s narrow streets and numerous cafes, either on a rest day or during a ride. The town is particularly spectacular in the evening when the citadel and rocks are lit up.
Laragne is a bustling market town, where every Thursday morning, local produce including fruit, vegetables, cheeses, honey, meat, spices, and numerous other delicacies can be bought directly from the producers.
From the moment you arrive, you will be completely taken care of. A hearty breakfast is served each morning to set you up for the day ahead, including porridge, muesli, granola, croissants, fresh bread, fruit juice, homemade jams, and freshly laid eggs from Serre Des Ormes's own hens.
Tea, coffee, and home-baked cakes are also served each afternoon and help yourself to fresh fruit throughout your stay. On all but one night, Serre Des Ormes serves a delicious two-course evening meal, with locally produced organic food where possible.
