Accommodation

MacArthur Place Hotel & Spa

Nestled in the beautiful Sonoma Valley just four blocks from historic Sonoma Plaza, MacArthur Place is a boutique, 64-room luxury hotel and spa set in the midst of wineries, fine dining, shops, and galleries. The rich history and quaint charm of MacArthur Place make it the perfect destination for an unforgettable getaway to both Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley.

The property and buildings which comprise 29 E. MacArthur Street have a long and distinguished place in local history. Located in the middle of Sonoma, the former Burris-Good estate is comprised of beautiful gardens, majestic old trees, and historic architecture. The two-story Victorian house which dominates the property was built in the 1850s and is reported to be one of the oldest Victorian homes in Sonoma.

Hotel Healdsburg

Hotel Healdsburg is set on the western edge of Healdsburg’s historic town plaza, and guests can enjoy some of the world’s finest vineyards, restaurants, and shops within minutes of the front steps. Located 67 miles north of San Francisco, Hotel Healdsburg encompasses the Sonoma wine country’s simplicity and charm.

Beautifully appointed guest rooms, country gardens, pool, and the luxurious spa provide a tranquil setting for guests to relax within the hotel grounds. Dining is a highlight of the hotel where guests can savor Sonoma County's bounty of extraordinary wines and fresh seasonal ingredients at acclaimed Chef Charlie Palmer's Dry Creek Kitchen. Hotel Healdsburg offers a broad range of meeting and special event spaces for executive board meetings, wedding celebrations, wine tasting, lectures, and other occasions.

Bodega Bay Lodge

With its rugged shoreline and rolling countryside, the Sonoma Coast has its roots firmly planted in the land. Poised atop a tranquil bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Bodega Bay Lodge reflects the wild beauty of this romantic region and offers an array of incredible things to do in Sonoma. Spot migrating whales in the waves, scout for rare birds in a location prized by the Audubon Society and Alfred Hitchcock, and stroll two miles of soft sands, hand-in-hand.

Their inviting guest rooms combine comfort and coastal cool for a distinctly soulful getaway at Bodega Bay Lodge. The spacious rooms all offer cozy down-comforter beds, private balconies or verandahs and a host of custom comforts that will elevate your relaxation and bring a little luxe to your coastal escape. Decorated in warm hues and upscale coastal living decor, most of the spacious guest rooms feature in-room wood-burning fireplaces and many are perfectly positioned to offer beautiful bay views.

Program

You can expect an amazing itinerary of experiences while biking the region’s beautiful country roads. You might find yourself face-to-face with a herd of goats while sampling the artisan cheese maker’s wares or enjoying an elegant lunch with world-class wines, created by the chef at a hidden estate. Depending on the season, you might picnic under 1400-year-old redwoods.

But it isn’t a tour for everyone. In fact, Sonoma on a Bike has limited seats. It’s designed for those who like to savor a bike tour with all their senses fully engaged. They encourage you to take the time to come, breathe, and take in the beauty you’ve found in the lush landscapes of Sonoma County with its vineyards, valleys, vistas, hills, mountains, parks, rocky coastline, crashing waves, farmland, and forests (including those majestic and magnificent redwoods). It’s a slow and sensual trip. If that sounds somewhat provocative and possibly a little self-indulgent, so be it. It’s a gift to be given and shared with someone you love, including yourself. So come to discover all this and more, as you journey through Sonoma County’s beautiful appellations.

This epic tour contains routes of 50 to 90 miles (80 to 145 kilometers) per day that is rated 'challenging' and cover many sections of The Amgen, Tour of California, and Levi Leipheimer’s Training Ride and Gran Fondo. For the serious rider, this is the ultimate cycling experience through beautiful Sonoma County!

You will be given maps and route notes for each day’s biking. There will be a guide biking the route with you each day. In addition, the second guide in a van will be sweeping the route periodically to check on how everyone is doing. The van is available for transporting purchases and, if you desire, transporting you.
