Now that Communism has fallen, it is possible to continue biking along the Danube into Hungary. Impressive monuments, sumptuous places, exquisite architecture are some of the things you can see in the heart of the old Austro-Hungarian Empire. From Vienna, cycle along the Hungarian side of the Danube through Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Continue into Hungary where you will stay in historical towns of Gyor and Esztergom. The artist’s town of Szentendre contains many galleries, museum, and cafes. Join this relaxing cycle tour!
During the holiday, you will stay at selected hotels and pensions for your guided bicycle tour. Your accommodation will be smaller, charming hotels and pensions. They are are all in a good central location and often in a historical building. All rooms are double occupancy. A double room has one large bed for two people (usually queen size) and a twin room, meaning that there will be two single beds in one room.
Single rooms are available on most trips for a supplement. All hotels have a private bathroom that is usually equipped with a bath and sometimes a shower. Your room, breakfast, and taxes are included in the cost of the tour. However, if you take any services not included (telephone, minibar etc.) then you will settle this cost with the hotel's receptionist at the end of your stay.

In the morning, you will meet your contact person, who will introduce you to the program. You will also get all necessary materials. The first day on the tour takes you along the Danube river valley to the ruins of the Roman city Carnuntum, spread over an area of almost four square miles. Overnight is in Hainburg.
Today’s ride brings you briefly through Slovakia via Bratislava with its historical old town center. Then, it’s on to Hungary, where the days ride finishes in Mosonmagyarovar. This town is located in the meanders of a small river coming off and following the Danube. Overnight is in Mosonmagyarovar.
The ride between Mosonmagyarovar and Gyor winds its way through farming pastures. The cycling route is broken up by small, farming towns. The destination of today‘s route is the city of Gyor. This town, originally a Hungarian stronghold from A.D.900, has also a superb cathedral from the 12th century. Overnight is in Gyor.
Cycling not far from the Danube's river flow in this rustic, farming landscape, you will finish in the town of Tata, situated on lake Tatal. Overnight is in Tata.
Today, the route goes through a forested landscape with an ascent to cover but after that, it is a straight run to Esztergom. This town has an immense cathedral, the largest in Hungary, dating from 1822, which incorporates an earlier, Renaissance church from the 16th century. Overnight is in Esztergom.
Cycling along the Danube river valley gets you to the small town of Visegrad. You continue onto the town of Szentendre with its many churches, galleries and arts, and the opportunity to visit the river island of the same name. This town is really a gem of the tour. Finally, you finish in Budapest. This magnificent city, once a center of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, boasts incredible architecture and its thriving center offers many things to do. Overnight is in Budapest.

Hybrid bike rental is included in the price. All hybrid bikes are equipped with mudguards, rear luggage rack, bar ends, bell, rear light, and water bottle holder. Top Bicycle also provides free of charge helmet, pannier bags, handlebar bag, cyclocomputer, repair tools, puncture repair kit, inner tube, pump, water bottle, and lock. Road bikes, e-bikes, and tandems come with a supplement fee.
You will get special guided tours at chateaux, castles, museums, and other select attractions, as well as special events including wine tasting and picnics. Entrance fees to selected points of interest are included in the cost. There is usually one major point of interest per day. Depending on the guided tour, this might be a castle, chateau, church or an indoor or outdoor museum. When touring these points of interest, the certified guide for the point of interest may guide you with your bicycle tour guide translating as neccessary. The wine tasting session and picnic are amongst the highlights of this guided bicycle tours. Top Bicycle will not say too much about them, it will be a nice surprise for you.
You will be served buffet breakfast and dinner. For lunch, depending on the day, it might be in the form of a picnic (food bought at a local shop) or at a good restaurant or pub. The guide will help in any case. Let Top Bicycle know what your allergy is and they will try their best to accommodate you on the tours. They have had people with wheat and gluten allergies on the tours. They brought special food with them and Top Bicycle provided a coolbox for storage each day. Tip Bicycle also wrote notes people can show to waiters in restaurants to explain their allergies when they are ordering.
The central European cuisine is admittedly meat-heavy. Most restaurants will have vegetarian choices on the menu, but it is a good idea to say that you are vegetarian at the restaurant. Some dishes may contain meat and this might not be apparent from the menu. If you are not a strict vegetarian, then Top Bicycle recommends that you try some of the meat dishes as these are dishes representative of the cuisine. You will get some information in your tour information materials about meals and options for vegetarians.
