Whether its cycling past sweet smelling lavender farms, hopping off your bike to taste local food, or staring up into the old growth forests, this trip will keep you smiling the entire ride!
You will be staying at the historic Majestic Inn and Spa located in the heart of Anacortes, Washington County, Oregon, USA. At this luxury inn, the rooms available include the imperial double room and the boardroom double room, which are located in the stylish, historic building.
The deluxe double queen suites and the king single occupancy suites are located in the newer building and offer stunning views of the San Juan Islands. Each room is totally luxurious with space to spread out and relax after a full day of cycling and being outdoors.
Awaken at the historic Majestic Inn and Spa in downtown Anacortes, walking distance to the waterfront, cafes, and boutique shops. Enjoy the full service spa and feast on local produce and meats at the farm-to-table restaurant. Every morning, you will get your body moving with a strong balance class and invigorating yoga. You will then have a delicious, healthy breakfast together before getting on your bike to start the daily explorations along the breathtaking roads.
During the six days of cycling, you will tour the San Juan Islands and surrounding waterfront, check out local shops in historic Friday Harbor, and visit the famous Deception Pass Bridge with stunning views of the Puget Sound. There will be a balance of activity and relaxation to ensure you have time to unwind, make new friends, and sink into the magic of the islands.
You will begin each adventure-filled Women’s Quest day with a combination of Colleen’s unique “Awakening the Senses Yoga” and Brenna’s strong balance class. Colleen’s yoga is a gentle but powerful practice which draws inspiration from Gyrokinesis, Qigong, and Tai Chi, and is a perfect way to prepare the mind, body, and senses for the activities of the day.
Brenna’s strong balance class helps you open your hips and shoulders, while lengthening your spine and strengthening your core. Pulling from yoga, Pilates, corrective exercise, and functional movement, this class gets your body ready to take on whatever the day has planned. Feel taller and more balanced after you flow through the exercises and let your mind rest with a small mediation at the end of each class.
The first and last days of riding will be a little shorter, giving you time to get know each other and get to and from the airport. Monday and Thursday will be bigger riding days with options for climbing and / or longer rides. There will always be shorter routes available and everyone will have maps and route descriptions. You will ride as a group or split into smaller groups if needed. A sag-wagon will accompany the group on most rides in case you need a break or to carry any extra gear.
You will kick off the bike trip with an easier cruiser ride around historic Anacortes and then over to Washington Park to take in the views of Mount Baker and the Cascades, the Puget Sound, and get your first glimpse of the San Juan Islands. You will sample local wines from some of the best Pacific northwest wineries and get to know each other on the beach.
You will then head back to the beautiful hotel to get settled and have your first meal at the 5th Street Bistro before you rest up for the first big day of riding.
You will have an early start on Monday to get to the Orcas Island ferry, but have plenty of time on the ferry to get your gear situated, eat a little something, and get your water bottle filled up. Once you arrive on Orcas, you will ride along the waterfront for most of the ride. Orcas Island is known as the “Emerald Isle” with its lush, green forests and miles and miles of shoreline.
You will have multiple levels for this day and you can choose to take it easy or challenge yourself with a climb up Mt. Constitution for the incredible views. You will stop at the island village of Eastsound to take in local art and grab a bite to eat. After a big day, you will return to your hotel for some down time and a delicious dinner.
You will get your body ready for the ride with some stretching and strong balance class, enjoy breakfast, and then roll out to meet the ferry. After a beautiful ferry ride over to Lopez Island, you will have the choice of two distances to pedal around the island before meeting at the Bay Café to take in the view and eat some lunch.
You will have a short pedal back to the ferry and head back to Anacortes. Once back at the hotel, you can choose to rest at the rooftop lounge, get a spa treatment, or head out on the water for some stand up paddleboarding before meeting everyone for dinner.
After waking up your body with Brenna’s strong balance blass, you will enjoy breakfast and get yourself ready for a 10:00 a.m. rollout to Whidbey Island. This bike ride will take you down country roads, past forest lakes, along the Sound, and over the famous Deception Pass Bridge.
You will stop and have a picnic lunch with a view of the Puget Sound and the Deception Pass Bridge before heading back to Anacortes for the whale watching tour. You will eat dinner on the boat while watching sea lions, whales, and the sunset.
After breakfast, you will bike to the ferry and head to San Juan Island, home of Friday Harbor. You will have multiple distances for this ride so you can choose to ride more, or spend more time checking out Friday Harbor with its art galleries, bookstores, and antique shops.
You will have lunch in Friday Harbor before boarding the ferry to head back to Anacortes. You will have some much-deserved downtime to enjoy the spa, take in the views from the rooftop lounge, or hit happy hour before dinner.
On the last day, you will visit the hidden gem of Guemes Island. A small ferry takes you the short distance across the water to visit this very quiet island. You will spin out your legs as you ride the shoreline and stop for breakfast. You will catch the ferry back to Anacortes to get your stuff ready to go back home.
During this retreat, you will have visits to Orcas Island, Whidbey Island, Lopez Island, Guemes Island, and San Juan Island with the charming Friday Harbor.
This retreat will be held in Anacortes, Fidalgo Island, in the San Juan Archipelago, USA.
Women’s Quest will include all breakfasts, dinners, and one lunch, but other lunches will be on your own to give you a chance to try some of the amazing food and restaurants on the islands.
Your meals will be delicious, fresh, organic meals. The 5th Street Bistro is located in your hotel, a farm-to-table restaurant focusing on local products, including northwest wines and local micro-brews. There is an outdoor rooftop lounge with breathtaking views where you can enjoy your meals if the weather permits. Women's Quest are able to provide for any allergies, food sensitivities, or diet preferences with prior notice.
You can book additional spa treatments during this retreat.
Please book your flight to arrive at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request.
To get to Anacortes, you will take the Seatac-Anacortes shuttle no later than 10 a.m. (this may mean that you need to fly into Seattle on Saturday) so that you can join Women's Quest for the first ride at 2 p.m. in Anacortes.
You will transfer in Burlington (your driver will let you know) and board the smaller shuttle that will take you out to Anacortes. You will get off at the first Anacortes stop (14th and commercial). Women's Quest will have someone meet you at this stop and show you to the hotel.
